How to change your Bumble location on iPhone

Skip Bumble Travel. PinDrift changes the GPS, Bumble reads it.

To change your Bumble location on an iPhone, change the location iOS reports, then close and reopen Bumble so it takes a fresh reading. Bumble’s own way is Travel mode, a paid feature that moves you inside Bumble only. Either way, Bumble reads a location, and what gets accounts noticed is behaviour, not coordinates.

What Bumble reads

Bumble asks iOS where the phone is, like every other app, and uses the answer as the centre of your discovery area. Change what iOS reports and Bumble shows you people in the new city.

Your IP address is a second, rougher signal any app can see without asking. Bumble does not publish what it does with it, and travellers produce a GPS in one country and an IP in another all the time, so a mismatch on its own proves nothing.

Setting it up

  1. Install PinDrift on your PC or Mac. Pair your iPhone over a USB cable once and switch on Developer Mode when it asks. After that you can work wirelessly, or use the PinDrift iPhone app, which the desktop installs with your own Apple ID and which works with no computer at all.
  2. Drop a pin in the city you want to match in. Somewhere a person would actually live, not the middle of a landmark, then apply it.
  3. Open Bumble. If the feed has not caught up, force-quit the app and open it again.

If Bumble still shows your old city

Bumble mostly reads your location when you open it, so close it from the app switcher and open it again after the change, not before. Check Settings, Privacy & Security, Location Services, Bumble: it needs While Using the App or Always, with Precise Location on. If Travel mode is on, it takes priority until you turn it off.

If a “fake GPS” app changed nothing at all, it probably only changed the location inside itself. On iPhone, Bumble only sees a change made to iOS. A VPN changes your IP address, not your location, so it will not move you either.

What your matches see

Roughly how far away you are, not a point on a map. Your profile can also say where you live, and a distance that disagrees with it is one of the things matches notice first.

Where people actually get into trouble

Rarely the coordinate. Usually the pattern: hopping between cities, a brand-new account far from anywhere it has been, swiping right on everything, or photos that look reused. Bumble can ask a profile to verify itself with a photo and does not publish what prompts that. Nobody outside Bumble can promise you will not be noticed, us included. One or two cities, used the way a person uses the app, is the least unusual thing you can do.

Changing your location may also go against Bumble’s terms. That is a contract question rather than a legal one, and the realistic consequence is the account: is location spoofing legal covers it.

Frequently asked questions

Can Bumble tell if you change your location?

Bumble reads the location iOS reports, and on a stock iPhone there is no flag marking a location as simulated. That is not a promise: Bumble does not publish what it checks, and what gets noticed is behaviour, like hopping between cities. We will not tell you it cannot be noticed.

Can you get shadowbanned on Bumble for changing location?

It exists, and nobody outside Bumble can rule it out. Hopping between cities, mass right-swiping, or running a brand-new account far from where it started are what draw attention. Staying in one or two cities and using the app like a person is the lower-risk way to do it, not a risk-free one.

Is Bumble Travel mode better than changing your iPhone location?

Travel is Bumble’s own feature for moving your location to another city, and it comes with Bumble’s paid options, priced by country, so check Bumble for yours. It moves you inside Bumble only. PinDrift changes the location iOS reports, so the change is not limited to one app, for $60 a year or $70 once.

Why is my Bumble location not changing?

Bumble mostly reads your location when it opens, so close it fully and open it again after the change. Check that its location permission is on with Precise Location enabled, and turn Travel mode off if it is on.

Why isn’t fake GPS working on Bumble?

Usually Bumble read your location before you changed it, so close and reopen it. On iPhone, a fake GPS app that only changes the location inside itself does nothing for Bumble: the change has to reach iOS. A VPN changes your IP address, not your location.

Can matches see my exact location on Bumble?

No. Bumble shows roughly how far away you are, not a point on a map.

Ellis writes the guides here. Mostly that means reading Apple’s developer documentation so you do not have to, and testing what the tracking apps actually do rather than what their marketing says they do.
