PinDrift doesn't see where you go. Here is what we do collect, and why.
Updated October 6, 2026
This policy covers the PinDrift website at pindrift.app, the PinDrift apps for Windows, Mac, iPhone and Android, and the PinDrift Discord server. PinDrift is offered only to adults in the United States.
1. What we collect
Account and purchases. Your email if you buy or sign in with one, your plan, and your order, refund and chargeback records. Our payment processor handles your card, so we never see the full number. An account bought with only a license key has no email, and we keep the key only as a one-way hash. For past crypto purchases, we keep the paying wallet address and the amount.
Your devices. Identifiers that tell your devices apart: a random install ID, a one-way hash of your computer's hardware, and a one-way hash of your phone's hardware ID. We also get your computer's name, operating system, platform and app version.
Your IP address. We see your IP address when you visit the website, download PinDrift, or use an app that contacts our servers.
Discord verification. If a new Discord account joins our Discord server, it is asked to open a connection check on our website. The check records your IP address, the approximate city, region and country it belongs to, your internet provider, and whether it is a VPN, proxy or Tor connection. A security service checks the address for us. Server staff see the result next to your Discord username, user ID, account age and join date.
How the apps are used. We collect analytics and usage data, linked to your account, to improve the app and your experience. It never includes your location or anything you type. You can turn it off in each app's settings. The desktop app also checks which known competing location apps are installed, by name only.
Installing the iPhone app. Your Apple ID and password go only to Apple, never to us. To renew the app each week on its own, your phone sends our renewal service a random install ID, your license token and the device data Apple requires. If you choose manual refresh, it sends nothing.
Downloads. We count downloads by platform and version. If website analytics is on, the installer also carries a random download code so we can tell whether a download was installed.
What you send us. Support emails, tickets, feedback, and any logs you choose to attach. If you link Discord, your Discord user ID. When the PinDrift team sends a message to your app, whether it was shown, which button you pressed or that you closed it, so it is not shown again.
2. Your location
We don't collect your real location or the locations you set. They stay on your devices, except in these cases:
- If you record a route on your phone, the route passes through our servers to reach your computer and is deleted once delivered.
- If you join a group, the positions you share pass through our servers to reach the other members.
- Some features talk to other services straight from your device. Map and place-search providers see the areas you view and the places you search for. The road-data service Anti-Speed uses sees the coordinates it looks up. Life360 receives the location you send it, if you connect it.
3. How we use it
- To run PinDrift: licenses, sign-in, the free daily allowance, updates, downloads and payments.
- To keep PinDrift safe: stopping fraud, abuse, license sharing and false chargebacks.
- To help you when you contact us.
- To improve PinDrift, for example finding broken releases and seeing which downloads become installs.
- To meet legal obligations.
We don't sell your information or use it for advertising.
4. Who we share it with
- Service providers that help us run PinDrift, such as hosting, payments, email, and support and team tools. They may use it only to provide their service to us.
- Services you ask us to connect, such as Discord when you link your account. Discord's own privacy policy covers what you post in our Discord server.
- Authorities, when the law requires it or to protect PinDrift and its users.
- A buyer or successor, if PinDrift is sold or merged.
5. How long we keep it
We keep information only as long as we need it for the reasons above. Account and purchase records last as long as your account, and longer where the law requires, such as tax records. Logs, IP addresses, device records and diagnostics are deleted on a rolling schedule once they are no longer needed for security, fraud prevention or support. Deleted data can stay in encrypted backups for a short time.
6. Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, delete or get a copy of your information. Email [email protected] with the subject "Privacy request". We will confirm it is you and respond within 45 days. If we turn down a request, reply to appeal, and you can also complain to your state attorney general. Using these rights never changes the service you get.
California residents: in the last 12 months we collected the categories in section 1 (identifiers, commercial information, internet and device activity, and location when you record a route or join a group) from you and your devices, for the purposes in section 3, and disclosed them only as described in section 4. We don't sell or share personal information for advertising, and we use sensitive information only to provide the service.
7. Website analytics and cookies
We measure website visits with our own analytics on our own server, with no ad networks and no third-party trackers. It is on by default. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, nothing is recorded. We record the pages you view, time on page, the site that sent you, your country, your device type and browser, and checkout steps. Analytics data is deleted after 400 days.
Session replays. On the same terms, and off under the same switch, we also record how the pages behave during a visit: the layout, and the clicks, scrolls and page changes you make, so we can watch a visit back and fix what is confusing or broken, the way a heatmap or a screen recording would. This runs on our own servers, with no third party. It never records what you type: every field is masked before it is captured, password, email and the whole payment area are not recorded at all, and card details sit in our payment processor's own frames that this cannot see into. Global Privacy Control, Do Not Track and the switch below all stop it before it records a frame, and replays are deleted after 30 days.
The site stores your sign-in session, your theme and reading preferences, a referral code if a referral link brought you (about 60 days), and an analytics ID (400 days) that turning analytics off removes.
Turning it off
Checking your current setting...
This takes effect at once and is remembered on this browser. To delete records of past visits too, email [email protected].
8. Children
PinDrift is only for people 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn we have, we delete it and close the account.
9. Security
We encrypt data in transit, keep keys and tokens as one-way hashes, and limit who can access data. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information, we will tell you as the law requires. Report security issues to [email protected] with the subject "Security report".
10. Changes
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes. We will tell you about material changes in the apps or by email before they take effect.
