This Acceptable Use Policy is incorporated into the PinDrift Terms of Service by reference.
18+ ONLY - strict age gate.
PinDrift is offered exclusively to users 18 years of age or older. Anyone under 18 is strictly prohibited from downloading, installing, activating, accessing, purchasing, or using the Software or the Site, for any reason whatsoever. This restriction is absolute and has no minor-with-parental-consent exception. See “18+ only” below for how this is enforced.
18+ only: anyone under 18 is barred
PinDrift is offered exclusively to users who are at least 18 years old. If the age of legal majority in your U.S. state of residence is higher than 18, you must additionally have reached that age. There is no exception for minors under any circumstance, including with parental consent, with school authorization, or for educational research purposes.
What this prohibits. Anyone under 18 may not download the installer, create an account, purchase any License or PinDriftBox software, install or run the Software, activate a trial, submit information through any form on the Site, or be a beneficiary of someone else’s License (e.g., a parent purchasing on behalf of a minor, an adult installing the Software on a minor’s computer, or any shared-household arrangement that enables minor use).
What we will do if we discover under-18 use. We will immediately and permanently revoke the License without refund, bar the underlying email and hardware fingerprint from future purchase, and delete personal information as promptly as commercially feasible (subject to legal retention obligations). Misrepresenting your age is a material breach of the Terms.
Why we draw the line at 18 and not younger with safeguards. PinDrift is location-simulation software with the realistic potential to interact with apps and services that have their own age, safety, or legal restrictions (dating apps, gaming accounts with in-app purchases, location-aware financial products, court-ordered monitoring tools). Drawing a clean adult-only line removes ambiguity and avoids putting minors in a position where they could expose themselves to legal or safety risk through their use of the Software.
What PinDrift is for
PinDrift is a desktop application that simulates GPS location data on a connected iOS device. It is designed for, among other things:
- Testing location-aware iOS applications during development
- Quality-assurance verification of geofences, region-based notifications, and travel-related features
- Accessibility - letting users who cannot travel experience location-based features
- Personal use such as setting a custom location displayed by the operating system
- Personal location autonomy on devices and accounts you own (including managing what location-tracking apps installed on your iPhone, such as Life360, Greenlight, or Find My, report about you)
Commercial use requires a separate license
The Monthly plan ($4/month), the Yearly plan ($20/year), the Lifetime license ($50 one-time), and the PinDriftBox software ($249 one-time, you supply the Pi) are licensed for individual non-commercial use only. They are intended for hobbyists, individual learners, personal projects, and personal location autonomy.
Any use of PinDrift in connection with a business, organization, paid service, or revenue-generating activity requires a separately negotiated commercial-licensing arrangement with PinDrift. "Commercial use" includes, without limitation:
- Using PinDrift in the course of paid software development, including app development, contractor work, agency work, freelance work, or any QA-as-a-service offering
- Using PinDrift for or on behalf of an employer (whether you are paid for the use or not), including testing your employer's apps, validating company features, or verifying internal services
- Using PinDrift in logistics, fleet operations, delivery dispatch, accessibility-services-as-a-business, market research, location analytics, or any operational use case that supports a business
- Using PinDrift in connection with any service for which you charge fees, collect revenue, sell access, or generate income (directly or indirectly)
- Embedding, integrating, or wrapping PinDrift functionality into a product or service offered to third parties
- Sharing a personal license with coworkers, contractors, clients, or anyone other than yourself
- Installing PinDrift on hardware owned, leased, or operated by an organization rather than by you personally
Limited safe harbors that do not require a commercial license:
- Personal trial of a feature for your employer's app. Briefly evaluating PinDrift on a personal basis to decide whether to recommend a commercial-licensing arrangement is fine. Production use is not.
- Open-source unpaid hobby projects. Building a personal open-source app you don't charge for or monetize is non-commercial.
If you're not sure which side of the line you're on, reach out via the contact page for a quick scoping conversation. We'll tell you straight whether your case needs a separate commercial-licensing arrangement.
Misrepresenting commercial use as personal use to obtain or retain a personal license is a material breach of these Terms and the End User License Agreement, and immediately voids the License without refund. We may detect commercial use through heartbeat patterns, hardware-fingerprint clustering across an organization, or third-party reporting; if we do, we revoke the license and require a commercial-licensing arrangement as a condition of further use.
What PinDrift is not for
You may not use PinDrift to do or attempt any of the following.

- Tax fraud, including falsifying location to manipulate tax residence or jurisdiction.
- Wire fraud, identity theft, or money laundering.
- Manipulating ride-share, food-delivery, or gig-economy applications to claim undeserved fees, distance, or surge pricing.
- Defeating an employer's lawful location-based time-and-attendance or fleet-management systems.
- Falsifying compliance with court-ordered or licensing-required physical presence (for example, accessing a regulated online service such as gambling or banking from a jurisdiction where you are not licensed).
Defeating legal restrictions

- Using automated tools to interact with the Site or License server in ways not contemplated by ordinary use.
Important context that is not a license to misuse
Some apps and services prohibit GPS simulation in their terms of service. Common examples include Pokémon GO and other Niantic products, Tinder and other location-based dating apps, food-delivery and ride-share apps, banking applications with telematics, and some employer-monitoring systems.
Using PinDrift with those services may violate those services' terms and result in suspension, termination, loss of in-app purchases, or other consequences. We are not a party to those services' terms, and we make no representation that your use of PinDrift complies with them. You assume all risk of any consequence imposed by a third-party service against your account.
That risk does not authorize the conduct prohibited above. Even if a third-party service does not detect your use of PinDrift, the prohibitions in this AUP still apply.
Consequences of violating this AUP
If you violate this AUP, we may, at our sole discretion and without prior notice:
- Revoke your License immediately, without refund;
- Refuse to issue you any future License or Service;
- Cooperate with law-enforcement agencies, where lawfully required, in any investigation or proceeding arising from your conduct;
- Pursue civil remedies, including injunctive relief.
Reporting abuse, takedowns, and legal notices
Different intake channels exist for different categories. Please pick the right one; misrouted submissions are slower to process.
- Intellectual-property notices about PinDrift's own content (our marketing copy, screenshots, downloadable Software, trademarks): contact form, "Other" category. Note: PinDrift does not host user-generated content and is not an "online service provider" within the meaning of 17 U.S.C. § 512(c); we therefore do not maintain a § 512 designated agent or operate the § 512 notice-and-counter-notification mechanism. Notices are handled as direct-infringement claims after counsel's review.
- Law-enforcement requests, subpoenas, court orders: contact form, "Law enforcement." Valid signed legal process must be attached.
- Regulatory matters (FTC, state AG, state privacy regulators): contact form, "Regulatory."
- User-on-user abuse, harassment, stalking, fraud reports relating to a PinDrift Licensee: contact form, "Other."
- Privacy / data-subject requests (your own): see Privacy Policy § 6.
- General product complaints, bug reports, and feedback: Contact us.
How we handle abuse reports
PinDrift does not host user-generated content beyond our own marketing pages and support portal. The Software is desktop software running on the Licensee's own computer. We collect only the limited inventory described in the Privacy Policy; we do not collect routes, simulated locations, or which third-party services a Licensee uses PinDrift with. As a result, our practical ability to act on a third-party abuse report is constrained by what we can verify with the data we do hold (email address, hardware fingerprint hash, hostname/OS, and integer usage counters). With those constraints stated openly:
- The reporter is asked to provide evidence sufficient on its face for us to act. We will not unilaterally revoke a Licensee's License on a bare allegation.
- Where we do act, we will offer the affected Licensee notice and a reasonable opportunity to respond before any termination, except (i) where required by law to act sooner, or (ii) where the matter involves an imminent threat to safety.
- We comply with valid subpoenas, search warrants, court orders, and other lawful legal process within the bounds of applicable U.S. law and after our own counsel's review.
Changes to this AUP
Material changes will be announced in the Software at next launch and via the email associated with your License at least fourteen (14) days before they take effect. Continued use of the Software after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
Contact
All notices and reports under this AUP go to the contact form, with formal written notices to the postal address in Terms § 15.
